PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING
[[Psa 69:30]] KJV I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
The Psalmist declared, “I will praise the name of God with a song…” Note what the Psalmist said, ‘I will praise.” His will was involved. He was not forced to praise God. He did it out of his own volition. When it comes to praising God, we must not be forced to do so. We must be willing to praise Him. Hallelujah!
Also, note that he said, “I will praise the name of God with a song…” We praise God will songs. The way we praise God is through singing songs of praise and dancing before Him to praise and honour Him for all His goodness and greatness. In the above, we also discover that praise is not the same as thanksgiving.
We praise the LORD with songs, but we magnify Him with our thanksgiving. Thanksgiving, from the Hebrew, ‘todah’ means a sacrificial offering to express thanks. As we praise God with a song and dance before His presence, we also offer our thanksgiving offering to express our gratitude to Him.
Our thanksgiving magnifies God above every situation we may be faced with, and God rescues us from them all. The Psalmist puts it this way, “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me (Psa 50:14,15). Your thanksgiving secures your deliverance in times of trouble. Hallelujah!
Confession:
Father, I praise and thank you for your goodness in my life throughout this year. I praise you with all that is within me. I lift up my heart and praise to you, and I adore you for your kindness towards me. I love you, LORD.
