A HEART ON FIRE FOR THE LOST
[[Mar 16:15]] KJV And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
In the above are the Master’s clear instructions to us to reach our world with the gospel. Every believer in Christ has matching orders to go out and preach the gospel. “Go ye…” is not a suggestion: it’s a command. We have been commissioned to reach out to others with the gospel; this is and must be the prime reason for living.
Jesus Himself spent all His life moving from one place to the other preaching the gospel. He said concerning Himself, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost’ *(Luke 19:10). He had an assignment: seeking and saving the lost. And He did it till His death on the cross. On the cross, He preached to the thief and got him saved. Paul his side of the story:
[[1Ti 1:15]] KJV This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
The disciples also did the same. They moved from one town to the other, city to city, and nations preaching the gospel. Almost all of them died as martyrs in strange lands because of the preaching of the gospel. Unfortunately, we now have a church that’s so self-centered that caring for the lost is totally vanquished from our hearts. We gather every day in great edifices seeking miracles. But the Master went about seeking and saving the lost.
Today, the LORD is challenging us to return to our roots and to our divine assignment: going out to preach the gospel. This is not the work for some specially anointed as some suppose. We all have matching orders. So go out! Look around! Seek and save the lost. And refuse to stay back or allow anything to impede you. Live every day with a heart on fire for the lost! Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for your word and the privilege to reach others with the gospel. I ask that you ignite the passion and fire to reach the lost in my heart. Keep me burning with fire for souls in Jesus’ name.
