BUILDING UP YOURSELF
[[1Co 14:4]] KJV He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Speaking in unknown tongues is one of the greatest blessings of the Holy Ghost. In the above, the Bible tells us that praying in unknown tongues edifies the one who praying. Two things are key here: the first is “Unknown tongue.” This is a tongue or language that the Holy Ghost gives as a gift which we use in prayer *(1Co 12:10).
Unknown tongue is a language you don’t know. It’s not a natural tongue. It’s given by the Holy Ghost. And it’s divine. When we use this supernatural language in prayer, not only do we receive answers to our prayer but the language edifies or builds us up.
Many believers don’t know that their building up depends on themselves. God will not build you up. He’s already saved you. You also have the responsibility to build up yourself. To edify as used in our opening text means to BUILD UP. It’s from the same root we have the word edifice or building. And God expects you to build up yourself like a constructor would build an edifice. God has already given you the gift, yours is to use it to your edification.
This is why praying in unknown tongues become very crucial. You can build up your health, finances, intelligence, boldness, sensitivity, etc, by speaking in tongues. Glory to God! So train yourself to always pray in tongues. Desire to increase in that gift of the Spirit. And build up yourself in glory. Hallelujah!

Dear God, I thank you for your word today. I declare that I’m full of the Holy Ghost, and I honour and adore you for the gift of unknown tongues in Jesus’ name.
