COURTING STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIPS

[[Pro 27:17]] KJV Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Iron is what sharpens iron. You can’t use wood to sharpen iron. If you do, the wood will wither away. Unfortunately, that’s what many people do: they court the wrong associations.

There are three levels of relationships everyone attracts: 1. YOU ATTRACT SUPERIORS. These are people who are greater than you. They are ahead of you in life, carrier, finance, wisdom, experience, age, giftens, anointings, the list goes on. Then you have 2. YOUR EQUALS. These are people of the same status as you. And finally, 3. YOUR SUBORDINATES; These are those you are greater than in almost all areas of life. Great people court the relationships that challenge them to because better. They sharpen their live with greater minds. Your subordinates do not sharpen you; they are ‘wood’. They depend on you. You must rather inspire and sharpen them.

Your equals and superiors are ‘iron’, and they sharpen you. Unfortunately, many are average in life because they surround themselves with people they can control. They lack the humility and discipline to walk into relationships that challenge them to become better. Psa 42:7 says, “Deep calleth unto deep…” The people within your circle define your circumference. In other words, how big they are determines how big you’ll become.

So, make your way into strategic people. Look out for those who excel in areas you desire to get into. The Holy Ghost will bring such people your way. Humble yourself to Lear from them. Pay your way there. Invest into their lives. Buy their books. Research and read about them. You can’t be different from what you constantly see and hear. You are an iron, so local, a bigger iron, and sharpen yourself. Don’t go to them for favours: go for the fire!

Prayer:
Precious Lord, I thank you for opening my eyes to the truth. I ask for your guidance and leading into the relevant relationships that you have designed for my elevation. I embrace them and humblely learn from them catching the fire in Jesus’ name.
