GOING BEYOND LOGIC
[[Luk 5:6]] KJV And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
Peter and his fellow fishers had toil all night on the sea of Genessareth and caught nothing. Their expertise and professionalism had fallen flat before them in jeopardy. Later they gave up and started washing their nets. They were done for the day.
Suddenly, Jesus shows up and asked Peter to use His boat to preach, and the Bible says, “…when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught (Luke 5:4).” Peter explained to the Lord that they had toiled all night and caught nothing. He added, nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.
When he did, they disclose a great multitude of fishes. Peter knowing that only by a miracle would such happen, he knelt before the Lord and asked Him to depart from him because he was sinful.
You see, God can move and work miracles for even sinful men. Many times our prejudice blind us from seeing God when He moves. Two things are key in the above:
- Peter became the ideal recipient of the supernatural intervention because he was willing to give his boat for the Lord to use it for His ministry. Note that the Lord didn’t promise Peter of anything in return, yet Peter gave.
When we give to God for the kingdom, abundance will come to us supernaturally. We’ll begin to gathered what our strength, wisdom and expertise cannot accomplish.
- Against all logic, Peter believed the word of the Word. There were many logical reasons why Peter should have ignored Jesus’s word to let down his net. Yet he believed.
There’ll be several reasons why you shouldn’t believe God’s word when it comes to you. The word may not appeal to you logic. Like Peter, it may contradict your proffesional training. But faith means going the extra mile: faith means going beyond your senses. Real faith is unlocked when we lock up our human logic.
God wants to move mightly in you. Don’t let your reasoning stop Him. Believe like a child. Open yourself to divine possibilities. And only believe!
Prayer:
Father, I receive and believe your word today. I open up my life and I embrace divine possibilities. I subject my reasoning to the power of your word. And I declare in Jesus’s name that all things are working together for my good right now! Amen.
