GOODNESS OF GOD’S MERCY
[[Psa 100:5]] KJV For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
The Psalmist declares that the LORD is good. Then He further explains that, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generation. The goodness of God is revealed in the light of what He does. God is actually good. He is good as a person. Not necessarily because of miracles He did for us.
Usually, when we talk about the goodness of God, we limit it to miracles. But in the above, the Psalmist shows us that one of the major reasons for God’s goodness is that His mercy is everlasting. This means who important things:
- The mercy of God is everlasting or endless. It cannot be exhausted. Nothing can make the mercy of God run out. God’s mercy is so rich and immeasurable. There’s no amount of sin or wrong doing that can make God run out of mercy in your life.
- His mercy transcends generations. In order words, God mercy is not peculiar to any generation. God is still merciful today just like He was with Jesus and the apostles of old. The mercy of God forgives us, keeps and protects us against all odds, provides for us, defends us, the list is endless.
This is why we say God is good. Stop looking just at physical blessings. Many are not grateful to God because of failed expectation. What they failed to know is that the mercy of God is what keeps them alive. For example, forgiveness of sins is far bigger than financial provision because it saved you from eternal damnation. And the mercy of God is what forgives us. For His mercy, say with me that God is good!
Prayer:
Dear God, I thank you for your goodness in my life. Thank you for your rich mercy. You are merciful and kind. Thank you for loving me and being kind to me. Thank you for your everlasting mercy.
