RENDERING THE DEVIL USELESS
[[Heb 2:14]] KJV Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
The incarnation of Christ (the putting on of flesh by God) was for a purpose. Many have questioned why God had to become a man. In the above, however, we find that this mystery is solved. Jesus had to partake of flesh and blood so that it would become possible for Him to die. And that through His death, He might destroy him that had the power of death.
Philippians 2 shows us that Jesus was found in the fashion of a man and became obedient unto death (Phi 2:8). 1 John 2 says, for this purpose, the son of God was manifested in the flesh that he might destroy the works of the devil (1Joh 3:8). So Jesus’ incarnation was to make His death possible so that He would destroy the devil and his works.
Jesus destroyed the devil through His death. ‘Destroy’ in the above from the Greek root means to render ineffective, to render useless and idle,and to make void. Think about it. Jesus has made Satan useless. Hallelujah! This is why Jesus said the devil is a defeated foe! Satan has no power anymore!
Now, all the devil has is tricks. This explains why Eph 6:11 says we put on the full armour that we may be able to stand against all the wiles of the devil. Wiles means tricks and schemes. That’s all the devil has – tricks. This is why Paul contendes that we are not ignorant of the devils devices, least Satan should have an advantage. Now that you walk in the light, Satan can’t have an advantage (2Cor 2:11). Glory to God!
Confession:
The devil has lost his power over my life. I walk in victory. Greater is he that is in me. The power of God flows in and through me. I am indomitable. I win all the time. Glory to God!
