THE ENIGMA OF DIVINE SIGHT
[[Luk 17:14]] KJV And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
Jesus entered into a certain village, and there stood ten leppers who cried out that He would heal them. The story reveals the mystry of grace and the law. Ten is symbolic of the law. Jesus also represents grace because “…grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17-).
As the ten lepper (the law) encountered Jesus (grace), they were cleansed. Note that the leppers stood afar and shouted for Jesus to heal them. They are considered unclean and, therefore, were not supposed to come among people. When they touched others, the others also became unclean according to the law. The law couldn’t make the unclean clean. However, when grace touches the unclean, the unclean rather becomes clean. Glory!
When they cried out to Jesus, the Bible said, when He saw them, He said to them to go and show themselves to the priest. According to the law, when a lepper is cleansed, he must go and show himself to the priest for the priest to examine him and declare him cleansed (Lev 13:9-33). Jesus didn’t minister to them. He only told them to go show themselves to the priest.
As they went, they were cleansed. Jesus didn’t lay hands no them. When He saw them, He said to them to go show themselves to the priest. ‘Saw’ is the Greek ‘eido’, which means to perceive or see with or beyond the senses. In other words, Jesus told them to go show themselves because He saw them healed even though there was no physical proof. As they went (Thus, as they saw themselves the way Jesus saw them), the miracle happened. What do you see? If you can see yourself the way God sees you, the miracle will be evident in your life. Glory!
