THE FEAR OF GOD
[[Job 13:11]] KJV Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
One of the things that is almost vanquished from the modern day church is the fear of God. In the above, Job declared, “Shall not his (God’s) excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?” Job was concern about people’s attitude towards God. He was stunned at the lack of the fear of God. We are not supposed to be afraid of God, but we must revere Him.
Fear here is reverential fear of God. Many times, believers get used to the things of God so much so that they take God for granted. They get used to holy things until they are no more sacred to them. I believe that God is calling His church back to emphasising the positive elements of the attitude of holiness and the fear of God.
We don’t have to be so used to the grace of God to forgive our sins until the blood of Jesus becomes a common place to us. God’s grace must activate His love and fear in us. Any time sin becomes normal to us so much so that our conscience is not moved, apostasy lies in wait to destroy us.
Today, God is challenging us to examine ourselves. Cut of certain associations that belittles God and His goodness in your life. Let the presence of God overwhelm you and fix your mind always on Him. Don’t allow a certain company or just a lunch break to break the holy presence of God’s atmosphere around you. Live out your love for God so large that all may know that you fear God. Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Father I adore and love you. I focus on you my Lord, living my life daily for your glory in reverential fear, and submitting to your Lordship. Help me live everyday of my life conscious of your presence with me in Jesus’ name. Thank you Lord.
