THE GLORIOUS CITY
[[Rev 21:19, 20]] KJV And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
In the above, John saw a revelation of the City God has made ready for the saints. Glory to God, it’s such a glorious city. The city had twelve gates and “…The twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass” (Rev 21:21).
All the precocious stones in the universe are incorporated and embroidered into the architecture of this glorious city of God. In this city, John emphasized, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Rev 21:4). Hallelujah!
It’s a city of joy, a city of peace, purity, love, and saturated with God’s glory. God Himself will light the city, and there’ll be no night and darkness (Rev 21:23). Hallelujah! The bible says, “and there may not at all enter into it any thing defiling and doing abomination, and a lie, but — those written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb” (Rev 21:27 YLT). A city free from evil, defile, abominations, and lies awaits the saints of God. There’s a better home in glory for you if you are in Christ. Glory! To follow the Master is not vain. Glories lie ahead. Hallelujah!
This is the good news He sends us to share with all men. God is sending us to let all men know that He has prepared a place for them. There is a destination beyond the grave. A glorious city awaits us, and no one must slip into the lake of fire. As you read this devotional, may the LORD touch you and challenge you to go out and reach out to someone today with the salvation knowledge of the LORD Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Father I thank you for loving me so much and preparing for me glorious things in your city. Through your grace, you have brought me into your glory. I live everyday of my life eternally grateful to you for your matchless love and grace. Thank you Father in Jesus’ name.
