THE MYSTRY OF THANKSGIVING

[[1Ki 3:4]] KJV And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

After Solomon was made king after David, his father, all Israel honoured and received him as king. Solomon went up to Gibeon with a thanksgiving offering of one thousand burnt offerings. And He offered it upon the alter.

The next verse says, “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee” (1Ki 3:6). God immediately responded to Solomon’s thanksgiving offering by visiting him in a vision and demanded that Solomon should ask anything he wanted.

The Psalmist knew the power of thanksgiving. He declared, “Offer unto God thanksgiving… And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psa 50:14,15). Your thanksgiving offering makes God committed to rescuing you in the time of trouble. Your thanksgiving offering makes God move mightily on your behalf.

Please understand that God is not waiting for you to pay Him in the name of offering in other for Him to move on your behalf. The revelation is that your thanksgiving touches Him in the most amazing way. God easily polarizes towards thankful people.

Thanksgiving in the above is ‘todah’ in Hebrew, which actually means a sacrificial offering to express thanks. God loves people who go the extra mile to make sacrificial offerings to express their gratitude. Jesus asked the leper who was came back to give thanks why the other nine didn’t come with him. This shows us that God loves people who are thankful and show their thanksgiving through a sacrificial offering.

Confession:
Dear LORD, I thank you for your love, kindness, and many goodness towards me. Thank you for this year. Thank you for the gift of life. Thank you for the grace you lavish on me. I am so grateful. Thanks a million LORD in Jesus’ name
