WHAT ABOUT CHRISTMAS?
[[Isa 9:6]] AKJV For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Christmas is a day set aside to remember and celebrate the birth of Christ. From the scriptures, there’s all indication that Christ was not born on 25th December, it’s just a day dedicated to celebrate His birth. But come to think of it, no body actually can celebrate the day of his birth on the exact day because even though it may be the same date, it can never be the same day: we were all born once!
The idea therefore that 25th is the wrong date applies to all. Again, the idea that those who celebrated their birthdays in the bible had evil happened in one way or the other is no excuse not to celebrate the birth of Christ because, even though we may not be able to particularly tell when Christ was born, we know for a fact in the scriptures that heaven celebrated and angels rejoiced at His birth *(Luk 2:7-15).
It seems heaven is fond of celebrating birthdays because there is joy in the presence of the angels in heaven over a sinner that repents *(Luk 15:10). In other word, when people get born again (spiritual birthday), heaven rejoices. Hallelujah!
There are many attempts of the world to twist the purpose of Christmas. Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with Santa. Christmas is not about eating and partying. In fact, Christmas is not even about exchanging gifts and family reunions even though love is the hallmark of Christianity: Christmas is about JESUS! Glory to God! HE IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. And everything we do MUST glorify Him.
Prayer:
Dear God, I thank you for the blessing to see this day and to celebrate your goodness by sending us your son. I celebrate Jesus. I adore you, living my life in ways to bring you glory on this day. Thank you Lord.
