WHAT TIME IS IT?

[[Heb 5:12]] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

In the above, the writer was concerned about the state of God’s people in their development process. You see, when we become born again, we must advance in the things of God. We must not remain babes in things pertaining to God.

The bible says, ‘In Him we move.’ In Christ, we do not stagnate. We advance. Unfortunately, many remain at the cross and fail to make any progress after salvation. Their lives never touch or positively influence others.

The time has come for us to advance. In our opening text, the writer makes it clear that it was not right for God’s people to be taught at the time they would rather have been teaching. This leaves us with two very important lessons: 1. THE LACK UNDERSTANDING ABOUT ELEMENTARY ISSUES IN THE THINGS OF GOD IS A SIGN OF NO PROGRESS IN GOD. 2. THE ABILITY TO TEACH OTHERS IS THE HIGHEST CALLING OF THE BELIEVER. I believe that this is the time for advancement. This is the time to become relevant in the kingdom of our God.

Refuse to be a pew warmer. Be a teacher to others. God is calling you to make disciples. Don’t think that it’s the work of the pastor or some special few. This is the time YOU OUGHT to teach others.

God is challenging you to take your walk with Him to the next level. Decide to advance. To do this, four things are critical.

  1. You must give yourself to diligent study of the word. You can only teach others what you know. Expose yourself to the word. 2. Make a quality decision to win souls and disciple them. 3. Decide to become an ecclesia leader. Position yourself in the place where you can teach other people. Be part of training programs, which in return will equip you with the tools you need to be effective in teaching others about God.
  2. See the obligation. The writer said we ‘ought’ to be teachers. That means teaching others is not a suggestion: it’s our obligation. It’s our calling and we must answer. Every child of God is called to be some sort of teacher to others.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for your word and the opportunity to become relevant in the ministry. I embrace the call wholeheartedly and reach out to touch other lives. I accept the challenge to teach others, and I receive the grace to be effective in Jesus’ name. Amen.
