WISDOM FROM THE ANT
[[Pro 6:6-8]] KJV Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: * Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, * Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
There are three ways to gain wisdom. 1. Is when God give you 2. Is through observation and 3. Through personal mistakes. In the above, the scripture instructs the sluggard (the lazy man) to go to the ant and gain wisdom through observation.
A few things can be learnt from the ant. The first is A LIFE OF DISCIPLINE WITHOUT SURVEILLANCE. The ant has no guide, overseer or ruler but it still does what it’s supposed to do. The attitude to only do right when others are watching is designed to impede success in you. Wisdom is the ability to do right whether or not someone is watching. What do you do when no one is watching?
The choices of life, not the compulsions define character. Always do right and execute your responsibilities not only when your boss or leader is watching, but because you have an excellent spirit. Whatever you do, never do to please others or to gain their favour; that’s the lifestyle of an opportunist. Do what you do first to please God and to impress yourself.
Secondly, the ant PREPARES FOR A RAINY DAY. It gathers its food in summer against winter. We must prepare for winter and not allow disaster to take us by storm. Wisdom plans ahead. Wisdom knows what to do five years from now. What are your short and long-term strategies? How will life be in ten years time? Do you have plans for the future? Or you are just waiting for whatever will be to be?
It’s important for us to appreciate the fact that even though Jesus is the LORD of our lives and our lives are predestined, we ultimately determine what happens in our lives. God gives us the freedom to make our own choices. These choices define our future.
The good news is that we can make new and right choices that will transform the cause of our lives. Make adjustments and choices today that will create a great and brighter future for future generations. The future of unborn generations hungs in the balance. Prepare for a rainy day, and master that day if it ever show up.
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your word today. I receive wisdom for triumphant living through your word. And I make the right choices through the guide of the Holy Ghost to preserve my future and many generations in Jesus’ name. Thank you Father.
