LOOK TO YOURSELF
[[2Jn 1:8]] KJV Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
God wants you to have a full reward of your labour and all your efforts. Every labour of love will not go unrewarded because God is faithful. Paul affirms this: ‘…be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord ‘ (1Cor 15:58).
In the above however, John also shows us that we can lose those things we have wrought if we fail to look to ourselves. Pay attention to yourself and the way you are doing things. Countless have lost great opportunities and blessings because they failed to look to themselves.
Don’t rubbish advice, you may lose your marriage one day. Don’t ignore the leadings of the Holy Spirit, you may end up in temptations. Look at your friends, and make a decision if you have to keep them because many have lost precious things by keeping the wrong company. When things go bad, it’s usually not the devil: we failed to look to ourselves.
Everything gives signals before they happen. Nothing happens suddenly in life. This is why we must look to ourselves. How are you serving in the ministry? What’s your attitude towards the things of God? These are the things that determine everything. When we look to ourselves, we will not lose the things we have worked hard to achieve but rather, have the full reward. Glory!
Prayer:
Dear LORD, help me to look to myself. Help me to see what I must see and areas I must change in order for me to fulfill all your plan and purposes for my life in Jesus’ name. Show me what I must see.
