RETAINING GOD IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE
[[Rom 1:28]] KJV And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Paul in the above shows us what happens when a man refuses to retain God in his knowledge. Knowledge here refers to full knowledge. That means we must retain God in every aspect of knowledge we aquire. In other words, don’t be too knowledgeable till you flash God out of your mind.
Sometimes, believers can come to a place where they do not retain God in their knowledge. For instance, a person can be offended by the church and the ministry to the point that they don’t want to hear anything about God anymore.
When we fail to retain God in our knowledge, God gives us over to a reprobate mind. Reprobate mind is one that’s morally worthless. This explains why certain people who used to be very effective in the ministry can turn into something unthinkable when they leave the ministry. At the point when God is not retained in our knowledge, profligacy takes over.
‘Retain’ is the Greek word ‘echo.’ It means contiguity or to possess. No matter what happens, you must retain God in your mind. Echo denote a bouncing back or a ripple effect. The word of God must echo over and over in your mind and knowledge. Never leave God out of your conversation and knowledge. This will keep you from falling away into prodigality.
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your word. Please help me to always retain you in my knowledge. Help me to always stay my mind on you. I fix my heart on you LORD. I love you to the end of my life.
