WHAT IS LEFT?
[[Rev 3:2]] KJV Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Jesus, in His letter to the seven churches of Asia Minor, rebuked the church of Sardis and warned them to be watchful. It’s important to note that these letters were written to the churches around 90 to 120 years of the existence of the Early Church. The church today is an extension and evolution of the same church.
The stricking thing in the above is that Jesus told the church of Sardis that “I have not found thy work perfect before God.” Think about it. In our walk with God, we can actually come to that place where our work is not found perfect before God. Jesus, therefore, admonished them to “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die⦔
I believe God is challenging us also to strengthen the things that remain that are ready to die. What is left in your life that’s about to die? Strengthen your prayer life. Strengthen your walk with God. Strengthen your purity. Strengthen your fellowship with the Spirit because it’s ready to die. Don’t let the fire go out in your life. God is calling us to strengthen the things that remain in your life.
‘Strengthen’ is ‘Sterizo’ in Greek, which means to turn resolutely in a certain direction. You have the responsibility to trun your life resolutely in the direction that will cause you to please God. You must be intentional about your walk with God. You must be intentional about praying and your purity. These things will not just come to you. You must be resolute in your mind about it. God is calling you to strengthen the things that remain. Don’t let them die!
Prayer:
Thank you, dear LORD, for your word. I receive the grace to strengthen the things that remain in my life. Help me, LORD, to strengthen my walk with you, living for you and pleasing you in Jesus’ name.
