TWO IMPORTANT TRUTHS
[[Rom 5:1]] KJV Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
There are two very important truths for every child of God to fully apprehend in the above. The first is that WE HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED BY FAITH. The believer is already justified or declared righteous by faith. Hallelujah! Our justification has nothing to do with our works: it’s solely by faith.
Our right standing with God is not based on what we do but rather as a results of what Christ did on the cross. This is why our righteousness is a gift from God *(Rom 5:17, 18). Thank God for good works, it has its own rewards. But righteousness is not because of what we do right but rather because of the right thing Christ already did. And our faith in His finished work for us on the cross justifies us before God.
The next thing to appreciate from our opening text is that WE ARE AT PEACE WITH GOD. God is not angry with you. Glory to God! Through Christ we have peace with God. Unfortunately, many do not know this truth. They live each day of their lives in fear. They are afraid that God will destroy them one day in hell. The reason is because a preacher told them that even though they are saved, their sins will still send them to hell.
This position is not consistent with the scriptures. God is against sin. But no child of God will go to hell even because of sin. Romans 5:9 says “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” So we are saved from God’s wrath. God is no more and cannot be angry with you. So let all your fears disappear and live everyday of your life boldly in righteousness through faith, and just in case you fall into sin, don’t stay there: get up, clean up, and move on! Glory to God!
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your love towards me, redeeming me, and declaring me righteous in your sight because of your work through Christ for me. I receive your good work, embrace it, and declare it in my life in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah!
