SO GREAT SALVATION

[[Heb 2:3]] How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Many have thought that the sinner cannot escape the wrath of God on the day of Judgement. Whereas this position does not really constitute biblical error, it is important to know that the sinner is not really going to face God’s wrath but the consequences of his/her own decision.

It is on this grounds that the writer in the above contemplated, “how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation.” The problem here is not the wrath of God but the choices we make. God does not delight in pouring out His wrath on us. As a matter of fact, the wrath of God is reserved for Satan and his demons on the final day.

On the contrary, God provided a way of salvation to help man escape the lake of fire. But the choices we make will ultimately determine our eternal destination.

Salvation from Greek means protection, health, safety, prosperity, and to be saved. The writer in the above warns us that we cannot escape the opposite of all these if we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION. We cannot escape poverty if we neglect salvation. We cannot escape calamities if we neglect God’s great protection in Christ Jesus. Ultimately, we cannot escape hell and the lake of fire if we neglect, so great salvation made available to us in Christ.

So you see, the problem is what we choose to neglect. Many have neglected God’s great salvation and have had to deal with the consequences of their choice.

The big question is, what are we doing about it? How can they know about God’s so great salvation? Unless there is a preacher. How can they preach? Unless they are sent. I believe that as you read today’s devotional, God is actually speaking to you. He is sending you to someone. The reason is that YOU MAY BE THAT SINNER’S ONLY HOPE FOR SALVATION (Rom 10:14,15). Will you go?

Prayer:
Father, I thank you that you have chosen me to preach the good news to the sinner. I embrace the call with joy and zeal. I reach out to my world with joy and in the power of the Holy Ghost, providing the way of escape for the sinner in Jesus’ name! Amen!
