GOD; THE FINISHER
[[Phi 1:6]] KJV Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Usually, we start the year with resolutions, great ambitions and big dreams. But by the time the year is getting to an end, ambitions give way to discouragement and hopelessness. It’s almost as though you fooled yourself believing in fantasies.
There are those that even get discourage in the faith because they feel God disappointed them. You see, there are two sides to this: firstly, we must work hard to accomplish our dreams. Dreams don’t fulfill themselves. Dreamers make dreams come true. Therefore, the fulfilment of our dreams is usually predicted on how passionate and diligently we work it. God’s blessing is there not to do the work for us but to make the work easy.
Secondly, we must know that if our dreams are God-given, it’s fulfilment will be based on divine timing. God’s time may not be our time. Again, even though it may seem like we’re running out of time, God’s has a lot of time. And He can even stop the time to our advantage. So we must be confident. And instead of looking at the time, we must rather look at the author of the times.
In our opening text, Paul confirms his confidence in the Lord’s ability to finish what He started. He declared, “He who has began a good work in you, will perform it.” God is a finisher. In Genesis 2:2, the bible said, “God finished all His work.”
Many know God as a creator, but not much know Him as a finisher. God does not begin projects that cannot end. Anything He starts, He finishes. And your case will not be different. The bible says God will perfect (finish) all that concern you.
So like Paul, you must be confident in your God the finisher. Be confident in this very thing, that He who had began a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ against all odds. Hallelujah! It’s never too late for you. Glory!
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your goodness towards me. I am confident in you that what you’ve started in my life shall be perfected. I thank you in advance with great hope and joy, knowing that all things are working together even now for my good. Thank you LORD in Jesus’ name. Amen.
