THE HEART AND THE WORD
[[Luk 8:15]] KJV But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
In the parable of the sower, Jesus talks about the seed falling on four kinds of grounds: the road side, on rocks, among throngs and on good ground. Same seed four different grounds *(Luke 8:5-8). And Jesus explains that the ground is symbolic of the heart of the hearers.
The first thing to note is that the kind of heart you cultivate will determine how God’s word will bless you. This explains why two people can hear the same word from the same preacher and yet have different results. What kind of heart do you have?
Today, we want to focus on the good ground. Jesus said that the good ground has four characteristics:
- They receive the word with honesty. They are honest about issues God’s word address in their lives and they give it the needed attention.
- They hear the word. A good ground is a heart that always long for God’s word. Train yourself to always go for God’s word.
- Good ground keep the word. It’s one thing to hear God’s word and a totally different thing altogether to keep it. You keep God’s word by writing down notes, and then meditating on the word. Listing to messages over and over again makes you keep the word in your soul.
- Good ground brings fruits with patients. Don’t rush the word. Receive it with faith and honesty, but allow the word to have its way. Be patient. God doesn’t perform magic; He works miracles. Magic is independent of you but miracle is a process involving your faith.
Be patient. Keep faith alive. Hope against hope in faith. The word won’t fail. Only believe!
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your word that never fails. I declare that your word is alive in me, producing the right results in me. All things are working for my good. I trust in your word. And I receive its manifestation now in Jesus’s name. Glory!
