THE POWER OF A VOW

[[Deu 23:23]] KJV That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

In the above is a very powerful revelation about the differences among men. We live in a world and a universe founded on word. Everything in the universe was created by the word of God (Heb 11:3). This makes words play a very important role in our lives and destiny.

When words leave your lips, they go into the realm of the spirit. Those words never die. Jesus told us that a man is even justified or condemned by his words (Matt 12:37). Think about it? This is why we must keep our vow to the LORD.

A vow is a solemn promise to perform some act, or behave in a specified manner, especially a promise to live and act in accordance with the rules of a religious order. Many times, we relate vows to just money pledged. But our opening text shows us that God takes our vows seriously.

The difference among men is in the keeping of vows. Many people say things to God but don’t keep them. The Patriarch had power with God because they kept their vows to the LORD. Those who failed to keep their vow didn’t do well. The preacher said, ‘When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not …for he hath no pleasure in fools…(Ecc 5:4). Don’t speak empty words. Keep your vow. God takes them seriously to distinguishly bless you.

Prayer:
Thank you LORD for your word. I receive the grace to walk in accordance with my vow to you. I make that quality decision today and I refuse to defer from them by the help of your Spirit in Jesus’ name
