THE EFFECT OF A GOOD CONSCIENCE
[[1Ti 1:19]] KJV Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Faith is everything when walking with God. The Bible says “he that cometh to God must believe…” (Heb 11:6). We cannot walk with God without faith. Faith is central in all that we do. Therefore we must not let go of faith. Without faith it’s impossible to please God. We must hold faith.
But faith alone is not enough. Our opening text says, “Holding faith, and a good conscience…” We must cultivate a good conscience. To have a good conscience simply mean we must be always conscious of good things. Goodness must fill our consciousness. This is an attitude we must hold together with faith. Don’t be anticipating evil. Don’t go about thinking that evil will befall you. Always hold a good conscience.
I expect good things to come my way. I expect good all the time. All things work together for my good. I’m an incurable optimist. You too must always be conscious of good things and expect favourable outcomes. Don’t entertain thoughts of failure. Don’t think you will die young. Reject thoughts of a sicknesses going to take your life. Don’t make your mind the devil’s field for the sowing of seeds of bad thoughts.
Note in our opening text that those who put away a good conscience make a shipwreck of the faith and life. Being pessimistic destroys faith. This position will ruin your life. Many have made shipwreck of their lives because they were always conscious of bad things. Glory! I expect good things today. Expect good to come to you. Expect the best this week. You are in for a kingdom treat. Hallelujah!
Confession:
I expect good things. It’s my week of flourishing. Good things come to me from everywhere. I expect good news today in Jesus’ name. Glory!
