OUR HEART IN GIVING
[[Luk 21:3, 4]] KJV And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
*For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
Our giving is important to God. It’s amazing that when Jesus went to church, He stood over the offering bowl observing what the people put in. Jesus said “I do what I see my Father do” *(John 3:38). So that shows us that God the Father is interested in seeing WHAT and HOW we give.
Our giving is important because it’s a revelation of our heart towards God. Where a man’s treasure goes, there his heart is. Our treasure and our heart are connected (Mat 6:21).
What Jesus observed was important; the bible says He said ” Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.” As the rich gave out of their abundance and far more than the poor widow, Jesus was moved by what the widow gave: she gave her all.
The quality of our giving has nothing to do with how much we give but rather how much what we give affect us. David said he won’t gave God anything that will cost him nothing *(2Sam 24:24).
Giving is not just money; we give our time, care, love, life, the list goes on. But what God wants is our heart. In Proverbs, He exclaimed, “My son, give me thy heart” *(Pro 23:26). To give your heart means to be totally sold out to God.
When we give to God, He takes what we give and gives back to us something that’s a million times better than what we gave. When God ask us to give, it means He wants to do something glorious with us. Learn to give your all to the Master. And don’t hold back anything. Give your tithes, offerings, and first fruits joyfully. God seeks your heart: your total devotion and consecration. Will you heed?
Prayer:
Father I thank you today for your word. I give my life and all I have to you. I declare that am totally sold out to you. I let go my will for yours. I love you Lord. Amen.
