THE WORD AND OTHER’ S OPINION
[[Joh 6:41]] KJV The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
*And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
Jesus said about Himself that He preceded from the Father *(John 8:42). He was the word of God made flesh *(John 1:14). In heaven, His name is the word of God (Rev 19:13). He was before all things (Col 1:17). ‘Before’ is a primary preposition in Greek which means prior. This means before anything was ever created, Jesus was.
After His incarceration, He boldly declared “I came down from heaven.” In our opening text, we are told that the Jews disbelieved and murmured against Him. Clearly, those Jews murmured for two reasons:
- They knew about Jesus’ biological origin and probably were even acquainted with Him. Beware of people who will use your past to define your destiny and calling. You must be bold and convinced about who you believe you are: not based on your past, but on God’s word.
Also, boldly speak God’s word about you even if the people around you don’t believe. IT DOESN’T TAKE THE FAITH OF THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU TO FULFILL GOD’S WORD IN YOU BUT YOUR FAITH IN WHAT YOU SAY. Other’s opinion don’t count.
- The Jew doubted Jesus because they didn’t see Him in heaven. Anytime you release your faith, other may doubt you because they can’t see it. But you must believe. People will doubt what you say in God’s word about yourself because they may not see or have any evidence. You may not also have physical evidence to convince them. But your faith is the evidence of things not seen (by onlookers) *(Hebrews 11:1).
So refuse to let other’s opinion to hold you back from speaking God’s word. Don’t lose your faith: it’s your only evidence. Believe in the word you speak.
Jesus boldly spoke about His origin without proof. Later the disciples saw Him elevate and ascending into heaven before their very eyes *(Acts 1:9). When you keep speaking God’s word, very soon the word will become flesh. And no one can argue with proof.
