IN THE MIDST OF THEE

[[Zep 3:17]] KJV The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

In the above, the LORD shows the children of Israel what it means for the God to dwell in their midst in the Old Testament. And that was a shadow of what it actually means for God to live in a man. When you become a Christian, God comes to live in you. Hence, the blessing of the above scripture becomes your experience in life.

The LORD God in the midst of thee is mighty. “In the midst” is the Hebrew ‘qereb’ meaning IN THE INNER PART or INWARD PART. This gives the idea of God dwelling in the INWARD MAN (the heart or spirit of man) *(Eph 3:16). This is being born again. From the above scripture, a few things happen when God indwells us.

  1. The might of God is made available to us when God indwell us. The LORD God in the midst of thee is mighty. In order words, God’s might is demonstrated through us as He lives in us.
  2. The next thing the scripture says is that He will save. Save here means to DELIVER, DEFEND, PRESERVE, RESCUE, and GIVE VICTORY TO. When God lives in you, He’ll deliver you from trouble. He’ll defend and preserve you. He’ll rescue you and give you victory in every battle. Glory!
  3. The next thing the bible says in the above is that God will rejoice over you with joy. Sadly, many Christians don’t even know that God is extremely excited about their lives. They allow their weaknesses to blind them from seeing God’s joy lavished over them.
  4. This fourth one is the BIGGEST; it says in the above that He will rest in His love. When God comes to live in you, in other words, when you become born again, God settles in His love for you. His judgment and wrath are suspended. He rests in His love for you. Glory to God!

As a child of God, this should be the reality in your everyday life. God is in the midst of thee. God indwells your inward parts. So live in victory every day. Today, too, you’ll win in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:
Dear God, I thank you for your goodness. I testify that you live in me and dwell in my inward part. I walk in the consciousness of your life and power in me. I function with your ability. And I walk in victory because of your indwelling presence and power in me. Glory!
