PROFESSIONALS IN MINISTRY
[[Tit 3:13]] KJV Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
One striking feature of the New Testament is that God called people from many professions—fishermen, a doctor, a tax collector, merchants, craftsmen, soldiers, and scholars—to participate in His work. Their professions did not disqualify them from serving God; rather, God used their skills, experiences, and influence for His purposes.
In the above, Paul asked that Zenas the lawyer be sent to him. Paul himself was a lawyer, Pharesees, and civil engineer or tent maker. Peter was a fisherman, Matthew was an accountant and revenue officer. Luke was a medical doctor, and an evangelist. Daniel was a politician and a prophet.
You can be an excellent professional and still be very effective in the ministry. God gave us gifts and grace to acquire knowledge in any field of learning so that we can use our expertise to magnify His kingdom’s influence on earth.
Whatever profession you belong to, you must magnify your office in the ministry. Begin with your immediate space. Reach out to your boss, colleagues, and clients with the gospel. Whatever we do, and wherever we find ourselves, ministry must be carried out.
Never let your job stop you from your work for God. Rather make it compliment it. You can be a carpenter and still pastor a church. You can be a nurse, lawyer, or engineer, fashion designer, and still evangelize effectively. Be an expect in your field, and an exceptional in the field of souls. Glory to God!
Prayer:
Dear LORD, thank you for choosing me. I make my gifts and talent available for your use. I hold back nothing. I prioritise you LORD above everything. I serve you with all that I am and will ever be, in Jesus’ name.
