THE FIRE SHALL NEVER GO OUT

[[Lev 6:13]] KJV The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

In the Old Testament tabernacle, the priest had the responsibility to keep the fire on the alter of sacrifice burning. Our opening text says, “The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” The fire must be kept burning. Glory! This tabernacle can be likened to us. For example, the tabernacle had three portions: the Outer court, the Holy place, and the Holies of holies. The outer court is a type of the body, the inner court of the holy place is a type of the soul, and the Holies of holies is a type of the human spirit. As the presence of God was in the holies of holies, the Holy Ghost also lives in our heart or human spirit today.

At the entrance of the outer court was the alter of sacrifice upon which burn offerings and sin sacrifices were offered or burned up to God. The fire upon that alter must ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out! In the same way, our outward man or better still, bodies must be ever burning with passion for the Lord. Our fire must not go out! Hallelujah! Never lose your passion and enthusiasm for the Lord. Be ever zealous; always burning in the body for the Lord.

Your spirit is not a problem, God lives there. Your soul must be renewed with the word of God. But the sins and weaknesses that tries to impede your walk with God is in the flesh. These are the works of the flesh (Gal 5: 22). This is why Paul admonished us to present our bodies as living sacrifice [upon the alter of sacrifice] (Rom 12:1). Sin constantly seek its way into our lives. And this is why our fire must never go out! Glory to God! It must burn away all the chaffs from our lives so that we are free to love and serve God. You keep the fire burning by sustaining your zeal and enthusiasm for the Lord. Hallelujah! Be ever zealous!

Prayer:
Dear Lord, consume me with your fire. Keep me burning. I’m sold out to your Lord. I give myself and my will away so that you can use me. Without you I can do nothing. Set me on fire! Let me burn for you in Jesus’ name. Glory!
