GOD IS WITH YOU
[[Act 7:9]] KJV And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
Stephen by the Spirit reveals to us in the above that when the sons of Jacob who would become the patriarchs of Israel sold Joseph into Egypt as a slave, they were moved with envy. But God was with him. Envy is a terrible thing, and can make you do the unthinkable.
Envy is the painful feeling that arises when someone else has something you want—such as success, wealth, beauty, talent, relationships, or recognition—and you wish you had it instead. Sometimes, even among ministers of the gospel or leaders of the same church, envy can find its way into hearts and destroy things. You must guard yourself against envy.
The stricking thing in the above is that even though Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt, God was with him. Think about it! A man can be going down in life and yet God is with him. We must be careful of who we mock. If God was with Joseph as a slave, God can be with those who may appear to us as nobodies. A Christian may appear in the eyes of men as failing, but God is with him. God is with you. Don’t fret!
The effect of God’s presence with Joseph is seen in the next verse: God “delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.” Get ready for all-round deliverance and favour. God is with you. It’s just a matter of time: it will show visibly! God is withyou!
Prayer:
Father I thank you that you are with me. I will not be moved nor be dismayed. My faith is alive. I hold on to your unfailing word. All things are falling in place for me. I walk in divine wisdom and favour. God is with me. Glory!
