THE POWER OF GOOD MUSIC
[[Pro 25:20]] KJV As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Good music is a powerful gift from God to mankind. Many times, we don’t even take time to look into the blessing of good gospel songs. In the above, Solomon the wisest king in antiquity contends that as one takes of his coat to warm someone when it’s cold, or the way vinegar upon nitre dissolves it, so is the effect of good music on a heavy and sad heart.
Good gospel music does something to the spirit of man. When Saul was troubled by evil spirits, the songs of David liberated him *(1Sam 16:23). Elisha’s anger dissipated when a minstrel ministered in music to him *(2Kin 3:15). Good gospel music liberates and refreshes the spirit of a man when it’s heavy. Isaiah shows us that the garment of praise removes the spirit of heaviness *(Ish 61:3). Evil spirits that influence people to commit suicide grids to a halt in the atmosphere saturated with good gospel music.
Good gospel music also boosts the immune system. Research has shown that the effect of good gospel music on the immune system is far greater than physical body excise. Again, listing and singing such songs or even making melodies in your heart to God enhances your spiritual sensitivity, and fills you with the Holy Spirit.
Paul puts it this way:
[[Eph 5:18, 19]] KJV And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Songs carry a spirit with it based on which kind of song it is. When you listen to good gospel music, you get filled with the Holy Spirit. On the others hand, evil spirits trouble and fills you when you listen to the wrong songs. Both have a direct impact on your human spirit.
Cultivate that discipline of listening to good gospel music. Invest your time and money in it. It’s impact on your spirit is incalculable. Start your day everyday saturated with songs of the Spirit. Play it in your car, your office, and your home every morning. Discipline yourself and develop the art of listing to the right songs all the time.

Father I thank you for enlightening me through your word. I worship and adore you. Your love is better than life to me. You are the most adorable Person in my life. And I live for your glory in Jesus’ name.
