THE WAR AGAINST THE SOUL
[[1Pe 2:11]] KJV Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Man is a Spirit, who has a soul and lives in a body. So your souls is not you. Your body is also not you. The real you is the spirit. And that’s the man Jesus died for (2Cor 4:16). But your souls is directly connected to your spirit.
The soul is the seat of the mind, will and emotions. These things affects your physical life and connects directly to your spirit. The soul is so connect to your spirit that only the word of God can separate them (Heb 4:12). This makes you think that what affects your soul also affect your spirit. But it’s not so.
Also, your souls determines almost everything that happens in your life physically. The souls is like a transmitter. It’s the realm of creation. Your spirit influences your mind, and your mind designs your physical life’s events. This is why the devil targets your soul.
That’s where spiritual warfare takes place -in the mind/soul. Satan tried to fill your mind with the wrong thoughts, desires and information, because he knows that the mind makes the man. So Peter warms us about fleshy desire because they war against your soul. When the flesh fills the mind (soul), it makes it weak to connect well to your spirit. Then you begin to feel dry and disconnected from God even though your spirit is inseparable with God.
So fight back. Guard your mind against the wrong desires and thoughts, and win the war against your soul. Pay attention to your quiet time and listen to mesaages always. Remember, your spirit can never be affected because its sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Eph 1:13). But in your soul, you must win the war. Hallelujah!
Prayer:
LORD I devote my mind to you. Help me stay my mind on you. Kill the wrong desires and thoughts in me. I declare that I think the right thoughts, and I stand perfect in all your will for my life in Jesus’ name.
