WATCH YOUR WORDS
[[Pro 29:11]] KJV A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
The words we speak reveal our mind and heart. Jesus said, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks *(Mat 12:34). Apart from the fact that our words have power to create, they also reveal who we are. After listing to someone, you can tell who he or she really is.
This is why James admonished us to be quick to hear but slow to speak *(Jas 1:19). Your listeners will judge you by what you say. Many have lost great opportunities because they were quick to say somethings they shouldn’t have said. “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding” *(Pro 17:28).
Joseph’s big mouth made him accomplish his vision the hash way. His words invited enemies he couldn’t fight. Being careful of what to say has nothing to do with speaking words of faith or God’s word about yourself. You see, there’s a thine line between faith and foolishness. Unfortunately, many tread the trodden path of foolishness because their words are not carefully chosen.
Pro 29:20 says, “Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” Anytime you have to speak, don’t be in haste. Stop, ponder, think before you speak. Don’t speak all your mind. Choose what you say meticulously. What you say determines a lot of things.
Confession:
I am a well of wisdom. Am full of divine wisdom. I speak the right words all the time. The opening of my mouth shall be excellent things. I am a blessing to my word. Glory!!
