THE POWER OF WICKEDNESS
[[Mic 2:1]] KJV Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it because it is in the power of their hand.
Many have wondered about the power of wickedness. They see the manifestation of their diabolical devices and become afraid. Even many believers get worried about wicked people and become restless. Our opening text, however, begins with “Woe to them that device iniquity…” Woe is an expression of grief, sorrow, misery, and calamity. It’s actually a malediction or curse. So if there’s anyone to worry, it has to be the wicked.
God’s word begins with woe to wickedness even though it ended by saying “it is in the power of their hand” to practice their devices. Here, the bible lets us know that the reason why wicked people may be able to practice their evil devices is because it’s in the power of their hand. For example, a wicked boss has the power to execute his or her wicked intentions easily. But your life as a believer is secured from their wickedness.
David understood this better. He was surrounded by countless wicked men. They threatened to take his life, and notwithstanding, David was not perturbed. He contended; “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell” *(Psa 27:2). David was not moved that the wicked came up against him. He knew their end: they’ll stumbled and fell. No wonder the bible says, “Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?” *(Lam 3:37).
Today, God’s word is challenging you to live every day without fear, knowing that wickedness and wicked men have no power over you and that they can not perform their plots against you. There shall be no weapon against you that will prosper. Job 5 confirms, “He (God) disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise” *(Job 5:17). Glory to God! The hand of the wicked cannot perform their enterprise. Hallelujah! You are well defended. Glory!
Prayer:
Thank you, my Lord and God. Most high and Almighty. All power belongs to you, and you are bigger than everything put together. My life is in your hand. I’m safe, defended, and well protected. I magnify you above all things. I love you more and more.
